Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. and Fox News Kingpin took to Twitter to attack Tom Cruise and Scientology on Sunday.

News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch took a swipe at Tom Cruise on Sunday in a series of tweets that labeled the Hollywood star a No. 2 or No. 3 person in the hierarchy of Scientologists, a group the media mogul called "creepy."

"Scientology back in news. Very weird cult, but big, big money involved with Tom Cruise either number two or three in hierarchy (sic)," Murdoch posted Sunday on his official Twitter feed. Later in the day, he tweeted: "Watch Katie Holmes and Scientology story develop. Something creepy, maybe even evil, about these people."

Murdoch then predicted he'd be subject to online attacks as a result of his flame war with the Science-Cult.

Murdoch acknowledged his tweets would be controversial about an hour afterward with: "Since Scientology tweet hundreds of attacks. Expect they will increase and get worse and maybe threatening. Still stick to my story."

I wonder if Rupert understands how creepy Fox News is? And he should talk after the phone hacking scandal that has rocked the UK, led to arrests and now News Corp. may be split up because of it.

News Corp. is considering splitting into two companies, separating its publishing assets from its entertainment businesses, say people familiar with the situation.The split would carve off News Corp.'s film and television businesses, including 20th Century Fox film studio, Fox broadcast network and Fox News channel from its newspapers, book publishing assets and education businesses. News Corp.'s publishing assets include The Wall Street Journal, the Times of London and the Australian newspaper, as well as HarperCollins book publishing. If a separation occurs, the publishing company would be far smaller than the entertainment company.

They are a match made in heaven.
