Video: Oregon State Rep Coaches People On How To Breach Capitol

Just days before Rep. Mike Nearman helped armed protesters enter the closed Oregon Capitol building, he coached constituents on the exact steps they should take to get his help breaking in.

Last month, we brought you the news that Rep. Mike Nearman was facing criminal charges for helping armed protesters enter the Capitol building in Oregon. Well, now we have video of how he coached them.

The video is disgusting, of course. Perhaps most galling is that he gave out his own cell phone number, and that he jokes he'll deny knowing anything about "Operation Hall Pass" if asked.

Remarkably, this miscreant is still a member of the Oregon House. There's a meeting next Wednesday to decide his ultimate fate, though Nearman has already been stripped of committee assignments and other measures, which only amount to a slap on the wrist. Nearman also hasn't yet entered a plea for the criminal charges against him, and has a court hearing later this month.

A video shows Nearman, a Republican from outside Independence, walking constituents through the step by step process of where to stand, how to text him and what help he would provide that would allow them to break the rules and get into the Capitol during the Dec. 21 special legislative session.

He does so with a wink and a nod, interspersing the instructions with disclaimers that he’s not giving out a real cell phone number (he is and it’s his number), that he knows nothing about the planned “Operation Hall Pass” and that nothing like that will actually happen.
